Hundreds gathered to celebrate the heartwarming story of Bruno Lanman, a former Navy diver who had to quit diving due to heart failure, but was able to get back in the water thanks to a new heart.

Bruno came to The Christ Hospital to have an LVAD, a battery-powered device, installed to help pump his heart while he waited for a transplant. He now volunteers here several times a week, encouraging those with heart failure.

To bring his story full circle, Bruno dove with sharks at Newport Aquarium where, more than 20 years ago, he started their dive program. He was then able to put on a show with some of the original members of his team.

Bruno shared his story with LVAD and heart transplant patients from inside the tank, and showed them all that there is life after heart failure!
