THE CARDIOVASCULAR STEPDOWN UNIT ENJOYS THEIR OWN VERSION OF THE HEART MINI/GO RED FOR WOMEN

To kickoff the Cincinnati Heart Mini weekend, heart patients at The Christ Hospital participated in their own version of the Heart Mini in 2022. Patients and their caregivers were invited to join the Cardiovascular Stepdown Unit (CVSU) staff in an on-site “Mini Heart Mini” Walk with running medals and snacks to make a great race. Those that participated in the Mini Heart Mini Walk celebrated their triumphs in heart disease and stroke recovery. Patients were given the option to walk a half marathon (half the floor) or a full marathon (walking the entire floor) with assistance from our team members. The event highlighted the importance of exercise being good for your heart. As part of Heart Month in February, The Christ Hospital Health Network was proud to highlight awareness of heart disease in women. The first Friday in February, team members wore red in order to ‘Go Red for Women’ Day. All throughout the month, providers highlighted the importance of heart health in women. Heart disease remains the number one killer of women and providing more tools and awareness is the key to reversing these trends.
