The Christ Hospital is the first in Ohio to enroll a patient in a physician-sponsored investigational clinical study using the Medtronic Valiant TAA Stent Graft System for less-invasive aortic aneurysms.

This system enables aortas to be repaired with significantly smaller incisions; more specifically, without the need for open-heart surgery. As a result, patients can recover faster and get back to their lives at a much quicker rate.

Geoffrey Answini, MD, was one of the first physicians in the Cincinnati region to treat aortic aneurysms with this system. "The outcomes from these devices are so good that Medicare and the Center for Medical Services now recognizes them as a primary therapy," he says.
